Song: I'll Stay With You

I’ll Stay With You ( A Song For Weddings) – ©1996, 2015, by Dave Kueker (tune for verses: Abide with Me)

In the summer of 1996 I was the minister for5344555446_68ced6f740_b a wedding and was watching the groom, waiting for the bride coming down the aisle. I began to think of the words to a song that would express how he might feel, so excited and happy and proud in the moment. The melody of the verses is Abide With Me, so you can easily sing it. This has always been one of my favorites.

Walk down the aisle, and you will find me there   [C Am F C]
Whenever you smile My hearts as light as air
With all the world’s sad sorrow, it doesn’t seem quite fair
That today and every tomorrow, We will always care [GabCFCGC]

As the preacher asks the question, I hear you say “I will”
Two little words that give me such a thrill
They bring a warmth into life’s cold lonely chill
I love you today just as I always will

I’ll love you still — “I will!”            [C G F — C F]
No matter what the years bring     [C F C]
I’ll still love you — “I do!”              [C G F — C F]
My heart will always sing               [C F C]
Through the laughter and tears,   [Em Am]
Our love will last for years             [Dm G]
I’ll love you still.                               [G C]

Then comes the ring, and the words “I thee wed”
I swear by my life I will love you till I’m dead
And then by the mercy of a God who’s always fair
If I live in heaven, I will love you there.
